Graphic Design

As the Art Director for FMQB, I am responsible for creating the layout for their Pro.QB magazine, a radio-industry magazine that focuses on the Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) format. Not only do I lay out the articles, but I also design all custom graphics and most of the advertisements for the magazine's clients. I also design all the advertisements for FMQB.com's website, and many of the email eCards that are sent to record labels and thousands of radio stations all throughout the country.

I also do all the graphic design for all web pages, websites, and newsletter templates on my web-design page.

Due to the high volume of graphics, it's advised to view this page on a desktop or laptop.

Magazine Design

When I took the position of Art Director for Pro.QB, I decided to do a number of redesigns to the layout to give it a more modern style. This included using new font sets, original graphics, and layout formats. I do all the graphic design and layout for this magazine, as well as create many of the advertisements.

February 2014

In this issue I designed all advertisements, excluding the ones on pages 2 and 24. The graphics on pages 17, 19, and 26 are not of my own creation. Click on any of the thumbnails or here to see the full issue in .PDF (16mb).

April 2014

I created all the graphics in this issue using Illustrator and InDesign. In the "elbow" piece, simply shaded spheres were aded around the every letter "o" within the title, along with my original rocket ship drawing specifically made for this article. My graphics for the "Playing Out The Basics" article went well with the light-hearted and humorous tone of the article. The ads that I did not create in this issue are on the back-page of the cover, pages 20, 45, and 26. Click on any of the images or here to view the full issue in .PDF (11mb).

The hardest aspect of designing advertisements is meeting a client's expectations. When asked to present a high volume of content within the small canvas of an online ad, it because very difficult to deliver it in an appealing manner without it looking too congested or bland. Tackling these feats frequently requires animation.

The target audience for FMQB.com is those who are within the radio industry; these therefore advertise details like how many spins a song recieves on radio, how many stations have added it to their playlist, or where the song ranks on various charts.

I have created ads for some of the biggest names in the music industry including Arianna, Carly Rae Jepson, Chris Brown, Christina Auguilera, Demo Lovato, The Dirty Heads, Discolsure, Ellie Goulding, Eminem, Florida Georgia Line, Hot Chelle Rae, Imagine Dragons, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Kendrick Lamar, Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, M83, Maroon 5, Of Monsters and Men, OneRepublic, Papa Roach, The Postal Service, Phillip Phillips, P!nk, Robin Thicke, The 1975, Vampire Weekend, Will.I.Am, and Zedd.

Here is a collection of my favorite advertisements for FMQB.com, both in banner and tower orientations.

eCards are large-format multimedia advertisements that are sent via email. They include things like band biographies, download links, video links, and audio streams. For propriety reasons, I am only providing the graphic aspects of these eCards. Here are some of my favorites. (Click thumbnails for full view)
